Frame Relay
FR is an Interface Protocol that provides efficient transport of variable units of data (frames) from multiple logical sources to multiple logical destinations.

FR operates on the physical layer and the lower part of the data-link layer and so is protocol independent, which allows it to support packets from other protocol families e.g. Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP); System Network Architecture (SNA); Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) and Digital Subscriber (DSL). It is a very flexible system that eliminates the need for protocol converters and provides a high level of both reliability and security.
The physical interface reaching the CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) can be the standard X.21, V.35, or G703. Depending on mutual agreement, a router can be installed by either Cable One, the customer, or a third party.
Our FR service is offered for VPN services as well as connection to ISPs. Capacities ranging from 64kbps to 512kbps or more are available. |
